How to create an Amazon affiliate link – Easy guide

You have your website and now you want to start earning a commission. This how-to guide will show you how to create an Amazon affiliate link so that each time a visitor to your website clicks on one of your links and buys from Amazon, you get paid.

How do you create an Amazon affiliate link?

When you sign in to your affiliate account, you have access to the Amazon site stripe. Your affiliate links are in this stripe. Find a product on Amazon you want to promote, click on ‘link’ in the site stripe. Copy the HTML code and paste that code into your website post. Now you have a link in your blog post with your unique affiliate code.

Have you signed up to the Amazon affiliate program yet?

Before you can start earning from Amazon you have to join their affiliate program. It is free to join, there are affiliate programs in many countries. Join the Amazon affiliate program or programs of the countries you are targeting with your website.

For example, my website has visitors from the USA, UK, and Canada. Therefore I joined the Amazon affiliate program for those three countries.

Amazon has affiliate programs in the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, China, Italy, Spain, India, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Sign in to your Amazon affiliate account

Once you have your affiliate account, it is time to sign in so we can find products to promote.

Complete your username and password details. Once you are signed in to your affiliate account, you get access to the Amazon site stripe.

Let’s head over to Amazon and find products to promote. Let’s say you have a website about cats and want to write blog posts giving helpful advice to cat owners.

Go to Amazon’s home page and find the ‘Pet Supplies’ department in the drop-down menu.

When selecting products, remember that Amazon commission rates are low. If you choose a $10 product to promote, that will earn you about $0.70. Look for items that are around $100, that will earn you about $7.

In the cat category, I think the ‘Cameras and monitors’ section should have some good products to promote.

In this category, there are many excellent items to choose from.

Let’s say you want to promote the ‘Petcube’, it is $199 and has a high review score.

How to create an Amazon affiliate link

When you are signed in to your affiliate account, you have access to the Amazon site stripe. The site stripe runs across the top of your screen. From the screenshot above, you can see the stripe.

On the left, you can see ‘Amazon associates SiteStripe.’ Next, there is ‘Get Link’. It is here that we create an Amazon affiliate link. We are signed in to our account, therefore the links generated will have our unique affiliate code.

To create our affiliate link, we click on the blue ‘Text’ link.

We copy the HTML code highlighted in the box and paste that into our blog post.

You have written an excellent post about your top pick pet cameras. Now you want to add your affiliate links.

Here is a quick post I wrote as an example. I am going to put my affiliate link into this article.

To add the link, highlight the text you want the link to go, and paste.

I highlighted the product name and pasted my code. After this post is published, anyone clicking this link will go to the product page on Amazon. If they buy, I get a commission.

Conclusion

Once you have signed up for your Amazon affiliate account, you get access to the Amazon affiliate site stripe.

You create your Amazon affiliate links from the site stripe. All the time you are signed in to your affiliate account and you visit Amazon, the site stripe will run across the top of your screen.

When you find the product you want to use in your blog post, look for the blue ‘Text’ link on the site stripe. Click on that and the highlighted code you get will have your unique affiliate code.

Take that HTML code and paste it into your blog post. After you publish your post and a visitor clicks on the link, the visitor will go to the product page on Amazon. If they buy the item within 24 hours, you get paid a commission.
